Our Research
Department at Weeks Roses, under the direction of Tom Carruth
since 1988, is dedicated to bringing you the best in all types of new
rose varieties--whether from our own hybridizing efforts or from the
efforts of international breeding firms or amateur stateside breeders.
Each year at our research greenhouses in Upland California,
we hand pollinate about 50,000 flowers to produce around 250,000 seeds.
After a thorough 8 to 10 year evaluation period, culminating in the All-American
Rose selections (AARS) trials, only about 3 or 4 varieties emerge from
the group as truly superior and market-worthy.
