 Weeks 2007 Rose Introductions

There’s an overriding theme for Weeks Roses 2007 Introductions – powerful perfume and saturated colors – some like you’ve never seen before in roses. Pick the Tops in Roses. Pick Weeks.

Strike it Rich

You’re in the money…if you love spicy fragrance, loads of bloom & super-long elegant buds of gold polished with rosy pink.  The long-lasting sparkling yellow-orange tones of this award winner are rich & opulent enough to bring out the gold digger in any gardener.  But it doesn’t take a stash of expensive chemicals to keep this good lookin’ girl happy in the landscape.  The natural disease resistance & strong vigor do the deed.  Very dark green leaves & unusual red stems set off the many showy clusters of blossoms.  Hit pay dirt with Strike It Rich!

Burgundy Iceberg

Performs exactly like its famous parent, Iceberg, in every way (except color) – same terrific flower production, bushy habit, lovely buds, showy clusters, glossy green foliage and nearly thornless stems.  But ‘Brother Burgundy’ has the painted colors of deep purple-red burgundy & cream that are absolutely nothing like the bland whiteness of ‘Mom’.  Seems to always be in bloom.  Perfect for the landscape - either in mass, standing alone or atop a beautiful tree rose.

Gentle Giant

BIG monstrous buds & blossoms of rich pink (not too gaudy nor too pale) have an inner glow of golden yellow.  SUPER broad round petals lend a classical flower form, slowly spiraling open from pin-point centers to full plentiful pulchritude.  LARGE luxurious leaves of unusual light green color dress the bushy plant, perfectly complimenting the radiant pink blooms.  LONG stems are perfect for bouquets…but it won’t take many of these big beauties to fill a vase.

In the Mood

Nothin’ says lovin’ like a red rose.  But here’s a really-red rose that turns up the heat with big round petals virtually dripping with super-saturated redness.  Each big buxom blossom holds that very same brilliance until they fall exhausted from the bushy prolific plant.  The long lovely stems are swathed in gobs of gray-green leaves.  If red is your thing, then this is the ‘it’ rose for you.

Night Owl, Cl.

Like no other Climbing rose in color & style…imagine a dark wine-purple version of Sally Holmes blinking with bright yellow stamens.  Now you’re starting to get the picture.  The clusters of showy sweetly fragrant blossoms come on quickly, are very long-lived and hold that dramatic deep claret color to the very end.  Repeat flowering readily in the very first season, this vigorous beauty sends out long canes covered with clean grey-green leaves.  Gotta have it!

Rhapsody in Blue™

A whisper started in England.  And then the story spread about a nearly-blue rose with gray-green leaves coming from an amateur hybridizer, Frank Cowlishaw.  With the first flowering in the trials, the world-wide rumor ran rampant about this remarkable rose.  Yet the trials showed the elusive beauty to be true to her English upbringing, having a definite preference for cool conditions.  The upright bushy pillar sulks in the heat but recovers remarkably with milder

Sky's the Limit , Cl.

One of the most beautifully ‘clothed’ Climbers around, Sky’s the Limit invites you to look down at her lovely plant…and look up at her scads of colorful clusters.  Reblooming well in the very first season, she’ll skyrocket in growth to quickly establish that perfect climbing effect on a trellis, fence or wall.  Unusually hardy (especially for a yellow) and so very full of clean green leaves, she’s sky high above other yellow Climbers.

Topsy Turvy

Gorgeous long white buds set your head spinnin’ when they swirl open to reveal a surprising searing scarlet interior.  The clusters whirl & twirl with colors of glowing orange, red & cream as the showy petals fashion themselves into an unusual pinwheel form.  Carrying flowers & foliage to the ground, this bushy little bouquet machine looks like a make-believe azalea that’s early to flower & fast to repeat.  Dark red new growth & glossy deep green leaves provide the perfect foil for this gyrating show-stealer.

Vavoom

Ever seen a rose stand up and say ‘howdy’?  Vavoom has the color that’ll do the trick.  Its bright orange juice tones might make your eyes pucker…but its sweet treat of glowing color lasts to the very end of every long-lived blossom.  Put that gleaming orange against deep mahogany red new growth & glossy green leaves & you’ve got a lollapalooza for the landscape.  The rounded compact plant can tuck into limited spaces.   Caution: Sunglasses may be required!

We Salute You

We Salute You

Come to attention…all you rosy lovers of warm colors.  Watch the long lovely pointed buds slowly open to tones of glowing orange…but suddenly take a startling two-toned turn.  As the large flowers spiral open the outer petals wash to warm pink, giving two distinct colors in each lovely bloom – orangey on the inside & pinky on the outside.  The big open blossoms are carried on long stems clothed with very deep green highly-glossed leaves.
